Position Descriptions
Newton Student Workers help manage the Newton Campus print/study locations: Alumni House, Trinity Chapel Basement, and the Keyes Hall Print Room. During a work shift, staff will be available at a front desk, greet students, assist with set-up/break-down of community events, and assist with a variety of administrative tasks. Some responsibilities may include managing printer needs, inventories, assisting with access or Tech/AC support, submitting facilities work orders, or other similar tasks. This role provides essential support to the Newton Campus through monitoring these study spaces and providing a community space for students. This position typically offers evening and weekend hours.
The Facilities Crew are student workers that assist the three Residential Life Facilities Supervisors to complete daily tasks. This position would assist with daily maintenance work tickets, inventories, and maintaining of residence hall lounge spaces. Facilities crew would assist with furniture moves and repairs, helping complete tasks at the various storage locations and ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app campuses, and supporting the overall Office of Residential Life through additional tasks. This position offers hours between 8:30am-5pm Monday-Friday.Ìý
As an office assistant, you would primarily serve as administrative support to a member of the Residential Life staff, including but not limited to, a Resident Director or Assistant Director. The position will assist with a variety of administrative tasks, completing errands within community and across campus, hanging fliers, or other assigned community needs. The Office Assistant role will primarily work from the physical office of your supervisor and some responsibilities/hours may be completed remotely when permission is granted. This position offers hours between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.
The Front Desk Student Workers are responsible for maintaining the front desk of the Boston College Residential Life Office Welcome Center. This position assists with check-in/-out of students, greeting students and visitors to the Residential Life office, and responding to inquiries from current or future students and families. During their shifts, they will assist with a variety of administrative tasks, answering phones, department projects, mail distribution and various other and daily responsibilities. The Front Desk Student Workers must maintain a positive attitude and consistently provide high quality customer service. This position offers hours between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Position Descriptions
The Community Assistants (CAs) are responsible for maintaining a hospitable, positive, and visible presence in the halls, acting primarily as an on-call and emergency response capacity. CAs will provide support and be a resource for the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app summer student residents as well as the camps and conference guests who are utilizing the residence halls during the summer months. CAs will conduct evening rounds throughout all residence halls that are occupied by summer guests to address any facilities, individual, and group needs.
Commitment
On average 2-3 nightly duty shifts per week, monthly day-time meetings with supervisor and CA team; Wednesday May 14, 2025 - Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Compensation

- Summer housing available until Saturday, August 9th; students with a Fall 2025 housing assignment will be permitted to move directly into their fall housing assignment between Sunday, August 10, 2025-Tuesday, August 12th, 2025. The Summer Operations Assistants (SOAs) are responsible for serving as customer service associates addressing all components of on-campus housing for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app students and summer guests. This can include, but not limited to, serving as administrative support in the Residential Life Summer Welcome Center or Residential Life Office in Maloney Hall, and physically preparing the residence halls for incoming and outgoing guests/students.Ìý Specifically, but not limited to, this position assists with check-in/-out of guests at assigned locations, linen/ toiletry audits and inventory, preparing and auditing keys/access cards, key packet preparation, and answering the phone and in-person questions from summer guests/students. SOAs are also responsible for preparing rooms for occupancy, which includes but is not limited to assisting with laundry delivery, un-prepping and preparing beds, supplying toiletries, resetting furniture, and addressing facilities concerns. SOAs must maintain a positive attitude and deliver a high level of customer service to students and guests at all times.
Commitment
On average 15-29 hours per week; Wednesday, May 14, 2025 - Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The Summer Operations Coordinators (SOCs) serve as leaders and supervisors for the Summer Operations Assistants (SOAs). The SOCs will create and maintain the staff schedule, assist with training of the staff, and daily management of tasks. They will assist and co-manage the responsibilities of the SOAs, which include, but are not limited to, administrative support in the Residential Life Summer Welcome Center, physically helping to prepare for incoming and outgoing guests/students staying on campus, linen/toiletry audits and inventory, preparing and auditing keys/access cards, and key packet preparation. They serve as customer service associates, assisting in addressing all components of on-campus housing for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app students and guests with check-in/-out and answering the phone and in-person questions from current or future summer guests/residents. Additionally, SOCs are responsible for managing the team in preparing rooms for occupancy, which includes, but is not limited to, assisting with laundry delivery, un-prepping and preparing beds, supplying toiletries, resetting furniture, and addressing facilities concerns. SOCs must maintain a positive attitude and deliver a high level of customer service to students and guests at all times, and address any staff concerns in regard to customer service.

The Facilities Crew is responsible for the maintenance of all furniture in the residence halls throughout the summer months and up to Fall opening. The professional Residential Life Facilities team oversees the day to day operations of the student facilities crew, all working closely to support and meet the summer housing program’s occupancy timelines. Many of the projects throughout the summer are time-sensitive. The job involves conducting room by room inventory, inspection, and replacement of furniture or blinds in all student living spaces and common area lounges within all residence halls. In addition to furniture replacement, the team will assist withÌý distributing furniture from a central warehouse and storage rooms to the residence halls. The facilities crew will collaborate with the Summer Operations Assistants and Residential Life Resident Director staff to execute tasks associated with summer camps and conference groups.
Commitment
On average 29 hours per week; Sunday May 11, 2025- Saturday August 23, 2025.
Compensation
- $16.30/hour during assigned work shift

- Assist with housing bookings, room changes, and other housing assignment processes for the summer and fall terms.
- Ensure the accuracy of summer housing bookings and collaborate to generate appropriate housing billing statements for current students and summer groups.
- Assist with billing processes for summer groups and ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app students.
- Support LLC housing applications, marketing, and recruitment efforts.
- Participate in reviewing applications and selecting candidates for these communities.
Summer Orientation Support:
- Organize and manage housing tours and informational resource fairs during Summer Orientation.
- Respond to inquiries from students and families regarding housing-related questions.
- Draft and manage communications related to summer operations, including sending facilities notifications to group leaders.
- Take detailed notes during Summer Operations and campus-wide meetings.
- Assist with the planning, preparation, and execution of summer staff training programs.
- Coordinate logistics and schedule meetings for summer operations.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Assistant to monitor and address summer facilities concerns through ticket tracking.
Commitment
On average 35 hours per week; Wednesday May 15, 2025 - Sunday August 10, 2025.
Compensation
This position provides on-campus housing and hourly salary.
A Resident Assistant (RA) is a full-time day student who will work as a community developer, resource, and mentor for students on the RA’s floor and community. Specific responsibilities will depend on the needs of the particular community and the area to which he/she is assigned. An RA is a member of the Office of Residential Life and is supervised by a Resident Director or Area Coordinator, who may be supported by a graduate assistant. The Assistant Directors, the Associate Director, the Director of Residential Education, and the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs provide additional supervision.
Commitment
ÌýApproximately 9 hours per week from June 29 through August 8 throughout the entire summer, 1-on-1 meetings with supervisor, and monthly staff meetings.
Compensation
- Room – RAs will receive a waiver for the full room rate for their assigned room type. RA rooms on the Brookline Campus are traditional style, single rooms on floors with shared, common area bathrooms. The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to change my room assignment and community placement at any time.
- Meal Plan – Brookline Campus RA will receive a waiver for the mandatory meal plan for the summer term.
- Infirmary Fee - RAs will receive a waiver for the full cost of the student infirmary fee.
- Opportunities for hourly paid shifts at the Summer Welcome Center can be requested and reviewed on an as-needed basis. Completion of these shifts will be compensated separately at a rate of $15.25 per hour.

Position Descriptions
The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE Program Assistant (PA) works directly with and oversees ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE high school-age students (14-18 years old) by creating a safe and hospitable environment conducive to an academically productive experience. This includes providing supervision, information, advising, discipline, and planning and leading social activities. PAs will provide leadership within the residential living community through engaging with students, mentoring, easing the transition to living in university dormitories by mediating roommate conflicts, and educating students about residential policies and more. PAs are tasked with guiding the day-to-day experience of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE students by getting to know them. PAs must be accessible, approachable, and respond to ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE students and abide by the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE program handbook and Boston College’s policies and guidance for managing minors on-campus. Candidates must be open to connecting with high school-age students (14-18 years old). Evening and weekend work is expected. The PA role is both independent and collaborative; PAs will need to work with each other as well as independently to accomplish tasks.Ìý

The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE Program Coordinators co-supervise and work with the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE Program Assistants (PAs) to oversee the day-to-day operations of the residence hall, planned programming, student excursions, and the wellness of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE students. The PC is responsible for ensuring adherence to safety practices, the Protection of Minors policy, and Boston College’s residential hall policies and procedures. They are responsible for creating a safe and hospitable environment conducive to an academically productive experience. This includes providing supervision, information, advising, discipline, and planning and leading social activities throughout the program. ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE PCs will assist with the coordination of large-scale programming activities, leading and planning off-campus student excursions, addressing student discipline issues, and maintaining an approachable presence in the community that ensures the safety of all ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½appE students.PCs serve in an on-call rotation. Candidates must be open to connecting with high school-age students (14-18 years). Evening and weekend work is expected. This position will require working well on a team, effective planning, organizing, and a keen attention to detail.Ìý

On average 40 hours per week; Sunday, June 8, 2025 -Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Students offered an interview will be able to select a 30 minute timeslot on the designated interview dates.

Any current ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app student who will be returning in the fall and/or will be taking classes throughout the summer is eligible for hire! Current ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app graduates are eligible to apply; however, hiring preference will be given to individuals who are still active students.
Each position will have different hour requirements, including the specific days and times you will be required to work. Most positions that provide an hourly salary compensation will require you to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, and some will require 29 hours per week. Each position will have required work shifts that can occur on both weekdays and weekends.
The Community Assistant (CA) position is an evening/overnight position that is not compensated with an hourly salary, and on average, each CA will work 2-3 nights per week.
Similarly, Messina Resident Assistants (RAs) will not be compensated with an hourly salary, and on average, Messina RAs will work approximately 9 hours per week.
Graduate Student Assistants
The Office of Residential Life supervises approximately 25 graduate assistantships. The majority of our positions are direct on-the-job training for those entering the field of higher education, and so in order to provide field experience for students in that course of study, we have a strong preference for students in the Lynch School's Higher Education program. Our Graduate Minister position is also open to students entering a graduate degree program in the School of Theology and Ministry.
Those graduate students not entering the fields listed above may apply to become a Resident Assistant (RA) during the application cycle for that position, which typically occurs early in the Fall semester each year.
