Job Description:
- Ensure the safety of the entire Aquatic center at the MargotConnell Recreation Center
- Execute preventative lifeguarding strategies to best protect and serve pool users
- Provide excellent customerservice to pool users
- Perform basic maintenancetasks
- Lifeguards are expected to work a minimum of two 3-hour shifts each week
Requirements:
- Applicants must hold current CPR/AED, First Aid & Lifeguard certifications issued by the American Red Cross
- All lifeguards are required to participate in In-Service training each semester to practice and sharpen safety skills
- All lifeguards must pass the Swim Test
Swim Test:
Prerequisite 1:Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest
- Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface, then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed)
- Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs
- Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both
Prerequisite 2:Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed)
- Submerge to a depth of12 feetto retrieve a 10-pound object.
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

The Campus Recreation Business Office is seeking a program assistant. This position will be responsible for assisting with orders, transaction tracking, financial statement reconciliation and document filing as well as managing office and pantry supply inventory.
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong communication skills and great attention to detail. A major or minor related to business/finance is preferred.
Hours per week will be 4 - 6 hours

Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising a group of children between the ages of 7-12. Essential job functions include planning and facilitating daily activities, managing behavior, andensuring the children’s safety at all times while acting as a positive role model. Organize, teach and lead camp activities including active games, board games, crafts, swimming, and various themed activities. Each counselor will work 4-8 hours each day between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday-Friday, during the 6 weeks of camp. Counselors must exhibit personal healthy habits, speech, dress and relationships with camp staff that serve as a beneficial role model tocampers.
The ideal candidate is both energetic and enthusiastic, but also responsible with strong communication skills.

The Camp Nurse performs all the same duties as a Camp Counselor, but in addition is responsible for responding to any medical needs the camp may have. These duties include reviewing camper medical paperwork, meeting with parents on the first day of each camp to discuss any medications a camper might need, administering regular medication to campers, documenting all administered medications, documenting all injuries, consulting with the camp’s Physician’s Assistant, and providing first aid/medical care for campers when needed. The camp nurse is the first responder to all health and injury related incidents which occur at camp and must have a good understanding of how to treat injuries and respond to health related incidents.

Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports
The Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports is responsible for assisting the Competitive Sports Programmatic Staff (Assistant Director and two Coordinators) in developing and organizing the comprehensive Intramural and Club Sports programs that serves a diverse university community of nearly 15,000 students and faculty/staff. This includes the evaluation, supervision, and marketing of the programs as well. This position will be assisting in the planning of annual special events. This person will also represent the university at local, state, regional, and national clinics, conferences, and workshops.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring of student staff for the Competitive Sports program.
- Lead and oversee training sessions for student sports officials, Competitive Sports supervisors, and office staff.
- Create and coordinate schedules for Competitive Sports student staff.
- Assist the Competitive Sports Coordinators with Intramural League registration and scheduling using IMLeagues.
- Provide on-site supervision of nightly Intramural and Sport Club events as needed; some weekends are required.
- Provide administrative support for a dynamic Club Sports program including but not limited to travel planning, budgeting, financial allocations, team oversight, officer training sessions, event coordination and conduct.
Additional Responsibilities

- Check in for program registrations, including but not limited to: swim lessons, tennis lessons, group fitness classes
- Responsible for general knowledge of building to respond to member and guest questions or concerns
- Lead trainings for new hires within the area
- Provide customer service to members and guests
- Open and/or close the facility, with shifts as early as 5:30am and as late as 12am, including weekends
- Execute Emergency Action Plan by calling Police Department or clearing building in case of emergency
- Maintain a clean and neat work environment
- Adapt to area changes on the fly and/or via monthly or semesterly staff meetings
- Assist Professional Staff with other tasks, as assigned

Job Description:
- Administer sales of memberships, program registrations, locker/towel services, guest passes, and more
- Monitor Department's email account and formulate responses to inquiries
- Answer phone calls and monitor/respond to Department's voicemail
- Responsible for expanded knowledge of building to respond to member and guest questions or concerns in person, over the phone, and via email
- Adapt to area changes on the fly and/or via monthly or semesterly staff meetings
- Lead training for new hires within the area
- Maintain a clean and neat work desk and office area
- Execute Emergency Action Plan by calling Police Department or clearing building in case of emergency
- Open and/or close the facility, with shifts as early as 5:30am and as late as 12am, including weekends
- Assist Professional Staff with other tasks, as assigned
