Mary Ann Hinsdale, I.H.M., honored for theological excellence
Associate Professor of Theology Mary Ann Hinsdale, I.H.M., is this year's recipient of the Yves Congar Award for Theological Excellence. Named in honor of Cardinal Yves Congar, O.P. (1904-1995), the award is presented annually by the Department of Theology and Philosophy of Barry University in Miami, Fla. to recognize the contributions of contemporary theologians working, writing, and teaching in the Catholic tradition, and spurring that tradition to meet the challenges of today.
A member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Sr. Hinsdale has been a member of the 天美传媒app Theology Department since 2000. Her areas of teaching and research focus on theological anthropology, ecclesiology, and feminist and ecological theologies. She is a former president of the Catholic Theological Society of America and author of the book Women Shaping Theology.
In conjunction with the April 15 award presentation, Sr. Hinsdale delivered the lecture 鈥淪ynodality: Pitfalls and Promises of a New Moment in the Catholic Church.鈥
Other Boston College theologians who have been honored with the Yves Congar Award include the late Richard Gaillardetz, Lisa Sowle Cahill, M. Shawn Copeland, and Roberto Goizueta.
