Boston College School of Social Work Professor Tiziana Dearing says Giving Tuesday is a wonderful gesture of philanthropy--but one day is not enough.
Tiziana Dearing's teaching focuses primarily on social innovation and leadership; her other research and teaching interests include poverty, race and income inequality, especially in urban environments, philanthropy and nonprofit management, and social justice in public policy. Prior to joining Boston College, she led a number of anti-poverty organizations, including Boston Rising, a start-up anti-poverty philanthropic organization, and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, where she was the first woman president and, at the time, the highest ranking woman in the archdiocese.聽
She also served as executive director of the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Harvard University, focused on nonprofit leadership and philanthropy, and spent nearly a decade as a management consultant both to Fortune 500 companies and to mission-driven nonprofit organizations.
In 2012, Dearing was appointed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to serve on the Governor鈥檚 Commission on a Cashless EBT Payment System.
Her expertise has been utilized by a variety of local and national media entities including CNN, MSN天美传媒app, NPR, the B天美传媒app, N天美传媒appNews.com, CBSNews.com, The Hill, and the Boston Globe. She blogs regularly for the Huffington Post and WBUR鈥檚 "Cognoscenti."
