Minor in History
The history minor offers students majoring in another discipline the opportunity to deepen their understanding聽 of the past through a highly customizable program of study.
The history minor consists of 5 courses. Please note that each requirement is separate. There is no co-counting.
- 2 upper-division courses (4000-level)
- 1 LAMA elective*
- 2 electives (2000- or 4000-level)
* Latin American, Asian, Middle Eastern, or African.
Advanced Placement Credits
Advanced placement credit cannot be used to satisfy minor requirements.
One or two foreign studies courses can be accepted toward minor requirements (although at least three of the five courses, worth at least 9 credits, must be taken at Boston College during the regular academic year).
Normally foreign-study courses are accepted for elective (not upper-division) credit. If you believe that a course you are taking abroad is as challenging as one of our upper-division electives (i.e., it has substantial reading and writing requirements), you should compile evidence to support this. Save everything, especially the course syllabus and the paper(s) you write!聽Only one course taken abroad can count toward the minor for upper-division credit; at least one upper-division course must be taken at 天美传媒app.
For approval of your courses before you go abroad, please submit a聽Course Pre-Approval Form聽and the聽Study Abroad Course Evaluation Form聽and聽include supporting documentation such as syllabi and reading lists on both forms.
When you return to the U.S., you will need to fill out the聽Degree Audit Course Substitution and Waiver Form聽to get your courses applied to minor requirements (elective credit or upper-division credit). OGE will process your transcript after they receive it from your host institution and will forward it to Student Services for posting on your 天美传媒app transcript.
